Injured Right ankle soreness Open link
Pekovic said Friday that he hopes to resume running again to some extent on Saturday. He's now 10 days removed from having to shut down his running program after his troublesome ankle flared up. This update doesn't necessarily change his timeline, and it's still expected to be mid-January before we see him back on the court, at the earliest. Coach Flip Saunders previously called him timeline "fluid," and we'll have to see how he reacts to the increased activity in the coming days and weeks. Saunders added that he'd eventually need at least two weeks of practice time before he might be cleared for game action, and he didn't rule out a stint in the D-League as part of his rehabilitation. Saunders also said that the team is shifting from a "retool" mindset to that of a "rebuild," given the long timelines for recovery for Pekovic, Ricky Rubio, and Kevin Martin. Gorgui Dieng will continue to start in Pekovic's place and play big minutes for as long as he remains sidelined, and his full-season prospects improved dramatically with the first reports that Pekovic was already dealing with substantial health issues.

Coach Flip Saunders said Tuesday that Pekovic's ankle flared up while he attempted to run on a treadmill, and after talking with team doctors, said it could be mid-January until he returns. Saunders called him timeline "fluid," but what we do know is that Pekovic is not close, and continued issues with his ankle after what is already approaching a three-week layoff is a huge red flag. Saunders said it might be another two weeks before he practices, and then another two weeks before he'd be cleared for game action, and he didn't rule out a stint in the D-League as part of his rehabilitation. Backup center Ronny Turiaf (hip) also remains sidelined, and the team recently brought Jeff Adrien in for frontcourt depth via a roster exception.

Injured Sprained wrist Open link
Coach Flip Saunders acknowledged Sunday that the team's recent signing of Jeff Adrien via a roster exemption means that Pekovic won't be back in the lineup for at least another 10-14 days. He has missed the past six games because of a sprained wrist and lingering issues in his problematic right ankle. Pekovic will be evaluated again this coming week. “As much as he has been out, he’ll need time to get healthy,” Saunders said. “It won’t be all of a sudden that he’s ready to play in games. He’s going to have to go through a week or so of conditioning.” This sounds like it could easily extend beyond just the two weeks as the team has no urge to rush him back and cut into Gorgui Dieng's development. Dieng will continue to start in Pekovic's place and play big minutes for as long as he remains sidelined, and his full-season prospects improved dramatically with Pekovic already dealing with substantial health issues. Backup center Ronny Turiaf (hip) also remains sidelined.

Injured Sprained wrist Open link
Pekovic has been declared out once again on Friday due to a sprained wrist and lingering right ankle soreness. Coach Flip Saunders said that he'll be re-evaluated next week, at which time the hope is that he'll be cleared to return to practice. Saunders added that he'd then likely need a full week of practice before he'd be cleared for games, which means we're looking at roughly another 10 days in a best-case scenario. Gorgui Dieng will start in Pekovic's place and play big minutes for as long as he remains sidelined, and his full-season prospects improved dramatically with Pekovic already dealing with substantial health issues. Backup center Ronny Turiaf (hip) is also schedule to be re-evaluated next week.

Out Sprained wrist Open link
Pekovic will remain out of the lineup on Wednesday due to a sprained wrist and lingering right ankle soreness. He remains without a definitive return date, and will continue to be "day-to-day" until he can regain some semblance of full health. Gorgui Dieng will start in Pekovic's place and play big minutes for as long as he remains sidelined, and his full-season prospects improved dramatically with the news that Pekovic is already dealing with soreness in a troublesome right ankle that caused him to sit out the final 28 of 38 games last season. Backup center Ronny Turiaf (hip) also remains out Wednesday.

Injured Sprained wrist Open link
Coach Flip Saunders announced Tuesday that Pekovic is expected to be out "until next week" with a sprained wrist. That rules him out through at least the team's Friday/Saturday back-to-back, with a possible return coming on Nov. 26. He'll be re-evaluated early next week, and Pekovic said he expects to be cleared to return to practice at that time, although he added that "you never know what doctor is going to say." The silver lining here may be that Pekovic will get some extra time to rest his problematic right ankle, which kept him out of the second half of Wednesday's contest and dates back to the second half of last season. Gorgui Dieng will step into the starting lineup in Pekovic's place for as long as he remains sidelined, and his full-season prospects improved dramatically with the news that Pek is already dealing with ankle issues.

Injured Sprained wrist Open link
Coach Flip Saunders announced Tuesday that Pekovic is expected to be out "until next week" with a sprained wrist. That rules him out for at least the next three games, with a possible return coming on Nov. 26. Saunders said he suffered the wrist injury during Saturday's loss. The silver lining here may be that Pekovic will get some extra time to rest his problematic right ankle, which kept him out of the second half of Wednesday's contest and dates back to the second half of last season. Gorgui Dieng will step into the starting lineup in Pekovic's place for as long as he remains sidelined, and his full-season prospects improved dramatically with the news that Pek is already dealing with ankle issues.

Questionable Right ankle soreness Open link
Pekovic did not play at all in the second half of Saturday's loss, and said afterwards that he is having soreness in the same problematic right ankle that bothered him last year. Pekovic said his ankle started to hurt during Wednesday's game, and has kept getting worse. It was the reason why he played just 19 minutes on Friday as well. Pekovic said he tried to go on Saturday, but the pain was just too much. "Tonight I tried, but I just couldn’t go," he said. "I was feeling really bad." Pek has had ongoing issues with that right ankle for some time now, sitting out the final 28 of 38 games last season due to bursitis. He limited his workouts over the off-season in the hope of putting his ankle problems behind him, but it obviously hasn't worked. We’ll see how Pek feels after a few days of rest and treatment, but we're considering him questionable ahead of Wednesday's contest. Gorgui Dieng would be the main beneficiary should he be forced to miss any time.

Injured Right ankle bursitis Open link
Pekovic went through drills in practice on Thursday for the first time, a positive sign that he is nearing a return, and is being called "day-to-day". Coach Rick Adelman had previously said the hope is that Pek will be able to slowly increase his activity level over the next few days, but Ronny Turiaf's knee injury could move up those plans. President of Basketball Operations Flip Saunders said in a radio interview on Friday that Turiaf will be out three weeks and the he "hopes" Pek can play some minutes this weekend, but we're still considering him out for now. Pekovic has been sidelined since Jan. 27 with bursitis in his right ankle and has missed the Wolves' last 10 games. Dante Cunningham will likely move into the starting lineup with Turiaf now also on the shelf.

Out Right ankle bursitis Open link
Pekovic is out of his walking boot, but didn't practice on Tuesday and has been ruled out for Wednesday's game vs. the Pacers. He has been sidelined since Jan. 27 with bursitis in his right ankle and has missed the Wolves' last nine games. Ronny Turiaf will get at least one more start while Dante Cunningham will continue to pick up additional minutes in his absence.
